About RSS

WHAT IS RSS?

RSS is the acronym for "Really Simple Syndication." RSS is used to distribute and share Web content using XML (Extensible Mark-up Language). By using an RSS reader, you can automatically receive and view data feeds from various news sources, such as FILacrosse.org, including headlines, summaries, links to full stories and more.

HOW TO ACCESS RSS:

Add FIL™ feeds to your current browser
Select from the feeds listed above, or look for the orange RSS feed icons throughout the FIL™ site, or the orange auto-discovery icon in your browser bar. Subscribe to just the feeds of interest to you, or subscribe to all of the feeds provided to you by FILacrosse.org.

RSS / News Aggregator
RSS/News Aggregators (also called Readers) will download and display RSS feeds for you. A number of free and commercial News Aggregators are available for download. Many aggregators are separate, "stand-alone" programs; other services will let you add RSS feeds to a Web page.

To view an FIL™ feed in your RSS Aggregator:

  •      1. Copy the URL/shortcut for the topic that interests you from the FIL™ RSS links below.
  •      2. Paste the URL into your reader.

OTHER USES FOR RSS:

Weblogs
Another way to use RSS feeds is to incorporate content into your weblogs, or "blogs". Blogs are web pages comprised of short, regularly updated material and web links. Blogging is a tool for publishing traditional journalism, personal journals or logs, group topical discussions, or any combinations in-between.
